Minister Pandor to table her department’s budget vote speech in Parliament

The Minister of Science and Technology, Mrs Naledi Pandor, will table the Department of Science and Technology’s budget vote speech in the Old Assembly Chamber of Parliament in Cape Town, on Tuesday, 20 April 2010 at 14h00.

Themed, "Science and technology contributing to development in a rapidly changing world", the Department of Science and Technology (DST) together with its councils, will mount an impressive exhibition in front of the Old Assembly Chamber, where Africa’s first electric car, the Joule, will also be on display.

Minister Pandor will outline DST’s strategic areas of focus for 2010/11 financial year.

The minister’s budget vote will also mark the start of the Paleosciences Focus Week, 21 to 24 April 2010, which as part of the activities will include the display of the newly found fossils by Professor Lee Burger of the Wits University at Iziko Museum in Cape Town.

To round-off the day, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) office will host a gala dinner at the Mandela Rhodes Place at 18h00. Part of this programme will include a brief presentation on Africa’s bid to host the Square Kilometre Array.
