The Minister of Science and Technology, Naledi Pandor will, tomorrow, Friday, 21 October 2011, official open and launch the Nkowankowa Demonstration Centre, stand 249, Charlie Street, Nkowankowa Industrial in Tzaneen, Limpopo Province.
The Nkowankowa Demonstration Centre is a Department of Science and Technology’s (DST) led innovation project, which focuses on the extraction of various plant and fruit oils, into food and cosmetic products.
Funded to a tune of R14 million, the centre targets rural communities with the aim of creating employment and promoting economic benefits through entrepreneur support.
It is implemented by ChemCity (Pty) Ltd, a unit of SASOL in partnership with the Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Vaal University of Technology (VUT).
The launch will be followed by a public participation programme at the local soccer stadium, during which the Minister, MEC for Education in Limpopo, Dickson Masemola, and the Executive Mayor of Mopani District Municipality, Cllr LJ Matlou, will interact with the members of the public.
