Minister Pandor to officially launch the National Science Week (NSW) in Durban

The Minister of Science and Technology, Naledi Pandor will officially launch the National Science Week at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Westville Campus, in Durban on Saturday, 30 July 2011.

The Department of Science and Technology (DST) holds National Science Week, annually in all nine provinces to highlight the importance of science, engineering and technology, mathematics and innovation in people’s daily lives. It also helps in making young people aware of the importance and economic prospects of studies and careers in the above fields.

This year’s National Science Week will be held from 1 to 6 August.

The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Dr Zweli Mkhize, MEC for Education, Mr Senzo Mchunu and the Mayor of eThekwini Metro, Mr James Nxumalo are expected to join Minister Pandor during the launch.

The programme of the launch starts at 10h00 and media are invited.
