The Minister of Science and Technology, Naledi Pandor will, will today, Friday, 31 August 2012 at 18h00 deliver a keynote address at the Horizon Mathematics Ceremony at Baxter Theatre, Rondebosch, in Cape Town.
The Horizon Mathematics Competition has been held for the last eleven years in the Western Cape and at other Star International Primary and High sister schools in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
The aim of the competition is to instil a love and appreciation for Mathematics, following observation that many teachers were concerned about the standard of learners’ performance in Mathematics and Science.
Each year, about 20 000 learners from all cultural and socio-economic backgrounds participate nationally in this competition.
