Minister Padayachie to lead operationalisation of the APRM operating rules of procedure

Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Mr Roy Padayachie will be in Nairobi, Kenya for two days to present the Operating Rules of Procedure for the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) at an APRM meeting on 14 March 2012 .

The presentation by Minister Padayachie will be in fulfilment of his duty to lead the operationalisation of the rules of procedure. Minister Padayachie was tasked to lead the process by the Chairperson of the African Peer Review (APR) Forum of the Heads of State and Government of APRM Participating countries, during its 16th Summit held in Addis Ababa where the rules were adopted by the Heads Of State and Government.

The Operating Rules of Procedure for the APRM need to be operationalised to clarify rules and responsibilities as both the APR Panel and the Committee of Focal Points have joint responsibilities to manage the finances and the administration of the APRM Secretariat.

Also attending the meeting will be the Chairperson of the APR Panel Prof Amos Sawyer of Liberia, Focal Point of Kenya Minister Wycliffe Oparanya and the CEO of the APRM Secretariat Mr Assefa Sheefa. Minister Padayachie, the South African APRM Focal Point will be accompanied by the Deputy Director-General: Governance, Dr Alex Mahapa.
