Minister Oliphant to host a joint media briefing with Southern Sudan delegation

South Africa’s Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant is to host a joint media briefing with a Southern Sudan delegation that is currently visiting the country on a fact-finding mission on matters relating to social dialogue and labour dispute resolutions mechanisms.

The Southern Sudan delegation includes representatives from the Ministry of Labour, Public Service and Human Settlement Development led by Kwong Danhier Gatluak Acting and Deputy National Minister of Labour who is accompanied by Ministers of Labour from various states of Southern Sudan.

During their stay the delegation will meet with International Labour Organisation Country director Vic van Vuuren, the Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration Executive Director Nerine Kahn and the National Economic Development and Labour Council (Nedlac) Executive Director Allistair Graham Smith.

The Sudanese delegation will also get an opportunity to meet with the Department of Labour’s Director-General Nkosinathi Nhleko and head’s of the department’s various branches including the Inspections and Enforcement Service, Labour Policy and Industrial Relations, Employment Services and the Public Entities the Compensation Fund and the Unemployment Insurance Fund that report to the Department of Labour.
