Minister Nzimande to address media conference on proposed changes to SETA landscape and release of National Skills Development Strategy three

In November 2009, the Minister of Higher Education and Training Dr Blade Nzimande announced the extension of the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS) two and current Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) licence by one year, from March 2010 to March 2011.

Minister Nzimande will address a media conference on the proposed redesign of the SETA landscape for the next five years and the draft NSDS three. The changes to the current SETA model are in line with the Department of Higher Education and Training’s resolve to deal with non-performing SETAs as well as weaknesses in meeting South Africa’s training needs. The architecture of the NSDS three will respond to government’s strategic objective to produce a skilled and capable workforce to support an inclusive growth path.
