The Minister for Rural Development and Land Reform, Mr Gugile Nkwinti, the Premier of the North West province, Ms Maureen Modiselle and MEC for Agriculture, Conservation, Environment and Rural Development, Mr Boitumelo Tshwene, will on Friday, 27 November 2009, undertake an inspection of the areas where Comprehensive Rural Development Programme (CRDP) is being piloted in the Moses Kotane Local Municipality.
The objective of this walk-about is to have a first hand feedback from the ground, regarding progress being made in the implementation of the CRDP in the pilot sites, interact with the communities at household level to ensure that the plans being implemented are in line with their needs and to give feedback to the community members about the implementation of the CRDD in their areas.
Amongst others, the Minister and his entourage will visit a number of households identified for social intervention, renovated schools and a clinic which has just begun to operate 24 hours, the recently built low cost houses as well as the constructed fence, livestock handling facilities and fire-belts. These projects are in different villages of Mokgalwaneng, Disake and Matlaametlo.
The Minister is expected to address communities during which an ambulance, bicycles for scholars and agricultural starter packs will be handed over to the identified beneficiaries.
Rural development which, at a service delivery level has translated into Comprehensive Rural Development Programme is one of the top five key priorities of government and is aimed at ensuring radical transformation and sustainable rural communities throughout the country. The ultimate goal of the CRDP is to see sustainable, equitable and vibrant rural communities that are characterised by social cohesion.
