Minister Nkoana Mashabane to meet Zambian foreign counterpart as part of working visit to Zambia

Lusaka: South African International Relations and Cooperation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane will this afternoon, Thursday, 22 October interact with her Zambian counterpart, Foreign Minister Kabinga Pande for bilateral political discussions as part of her official working visit to Zambia, to amongst others prepare for President Zuma's State Visit to this sister country in December 2009.

Minister Nkoana-Mashabane arrived in Zambia today and was received by her counterpart, Minister Kabinga Pande as well as the South African High Commissioner Moses Chikane.

Whilst in Lusaka, Minister Nkoana-Mashabane will tomorrow pay a courtesy call on Vice President George Kunda as well as participate in a National Cultural Event hosted by by the Minister of Community Development as part of strengthening cultural as well as people to people ties between Zambia and South Africa.

On Saturday, 24 October 2009, Minister Nkoana-Mashabane will participate in a Wreath Laying Ceremony hosted by President of Zambia, His Excellency, Mr Rupiah Banda as well as be part of witnessing the Investiture Ceremony to be hosted by President Banda as part of the 45th anniversary of Zambia's independence. Heroines and heroes of Zambia and its neighbouring states will be honoured for the contribution they made towards Zambia's independence.
