Minister Ndebele officially opens revamped Bloemfontein Airport

Transport Minister, honourable Sibusiso Ndebele will officially open the revamped Bloemfontein airport terminal in the Free State province as part of the roll out of the October Transport Month campaign.

The Terminal Reconfiguration Project, which created about 500 direct and indirect jobs, undertaken at a cost of R46 million will be completed by end of October 2009, all in preparation for the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup tournament.

During the visit the Minister will be joined by the Police, Roads and Transport MEC in the Free State, Mr Thabo Manyoni, Managing Director of Airports Company South Africa Ms Monhla Hlahla, Mayor of Mangaung Local Municipality, Mr Playfair Morule, senior government officials, key transport stakeholders and members of the community.

As part of the proceedings for the day, the Minister will also take a guided site tour of transport infrastructure development projects in readiness for the soccer spectacular.
