Minister Ndebele to launch make roads safe/Siyabakhumbula/Re a gopola/2010 Arrive Alive Festive Campaign in North West

The Minister of Transport, Dr Sibusiso Ndebele is to launch the national Make Roads Safe/ Siyabakhumbula/Re a ba gopola/2010 Arrive Alive Festive Campaign tomorrow, Thursday 18 November 2010. The event co-hosted by the North West Department of Public Safety and Tlokwe Local municipality is scheduled to commence at 12h00 at Ikageng Stadium in Potchefstroom.

As part of the programme for the day to celebrate 13th anniversary celebration of the Arrive Alive Campaign, Minister Ndebele and North West MEC for Public Safety, Howard Yawa will lead an intensive road safety outreach awareness targeted at motorists.

The programme also includes inspection of a joint parade by South African Police Service (SAPS), Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC), provincial and local traffic, special prayers by different faiths.

Victims of motor vehicle accidents will testify before wreaths are laid in remembrance of victims of road accident. The Minister, MEC’s present, Acting CEO’s of Road Accident Fund, Road Traffic Management Corporation and leaders of faith groups will sign the Siyabakhumbula/ Re a ba gopolaremembrance pledge wall.

Entertainment will be offered by Jezeal Brothers, Dr Kenneth Kaunda Jazz and Semble, Kgomotso Retsebane and SABS Brass Band.
