As part of South Africa’s “Make Roads Safe” Campaign, Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele together with newly appointed Eastern Cape MEC for Transport, Roads and Public Works Thandiswa Marawu will officially launch the Eastern Cape 2010/11 Festive Season Road Safety Plan on Thursday.

N.B. The launch will be preceded by a roadblock at the Ngcobo CBD at 08h00am.
The “Make Roads Safe” campaign will be further strengthened by the new National Rolling Enforcement Plan, which targets no less than one million vehicles and drivers to be stopped and screened every month.
As part of the event, the Minister and MEC will hand over 45 brand-new vehicles to provincial Traffic Officers, including 18 Quantums, 26 sedans fitted with full traffic control accessories and a bakkie with a police van-typed canopy to hold offenders.
