The Minister of Police, Nathi Mthethwa will address the 14th International Summit on Transnational Crime, Homeland and Global Security Forum held here in Geneva, Switzerland from the 17th – 20th October 2012.
Minister Mthethwa will interact with some of his counterparts from other across the globe, including policing ministers from around Europe, America, Far East as well as Africa. On Thursday 18th October, the Minister will address the summit and is expected to outline a global call around the strengthening of efforts by different countries in combating transnational crimes.
The Minister will also participate in a panel discussion with various police ministers of other countries on the 18th October, under the theme: The Global Approach to Today’s Security: the recent evolution of international terrorism. The discussions will amongst others, deliberate on the impact of the world financial and economic crisis on global security, terrorism and its new developments as well as the promotion of international and regional standards of cooperation.
Some of the notable summit participants include Mr. Boni Yayi, President of Benin, President of the African Union, Mr. Rupiah Bwezani Banda, President of the Republic of Zambia (2008-2011), Mr Cheick Modibo Diarra, Prime Minister of Mali and Mr. Alexandre Zmeevskiy, Ambassador, Special Representative of President V. Putin on Countering Terrorism and Organised Crime, Russia.
