Minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk launches National Minimum Standards for Responsible Tourism

In promoting responsible tourism, Minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk invites members of the media to the launch of the National Minimum Standards for Responsible Tourism.

The SANMSRT is an effort by the national Department of Tourism to establish a common understanding of responsible tourism. It aims to harmonise the different sets of criteria currently utilised for certifying the sustainability of tourism businesses to ensure tourism growth whilst managing all our resources. The standard has been published by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) as a South African National Standard (SANS).

NB: The programme for the launch kicks off at 11h00 on board the ferry and you are kindly requested to arrive no later than 10h30 to avoid missing the boat!
