The Minister of Public Enterprises, Malusi Gigaba will tomorrow honour the 2011 Top Matric Achievers from Mandeni Municipality, by handing over cheques to the students for each distinction obtained by the matriculants.
The top ten matriculants, all from Mandeni schools received 17 distinctions, with Bhekumuzi Mthembu as the top achiever with six distinctions, with second top achiever receiving three. Eight students received one distinction each.
Minister Gigaba, together with Nompumelelo Institute of Leadership and the Mandeni Municipality will host a luncheon to celebrate the top achievers.
The Minister hand-over of the cheques comes after he promised matriculants in Mandeni last year that whoever receives a distinction, Minister Gigaba will out of his own pocket, handover a R1000 for each distinction obtained. Tomorrow he will make good on his promise and handover R17 000 to the top 10 achievers, with the top achiever set to receive R6000, for his six distinctions.
