International Relations and Cooperation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, has arrived today, 27 January 2010 to attend the African Union (AU) Ministerial Executive Council as part of the preparations for the 14th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of States and Governments.
Since her arrival, Minister Nkoana-Mashabane held discussions with her counterparts from Southern African Development Community (SADC) to reaffirm their commitment to a common position and strategic approach as they map a way forward for the forthcoming Council of Ministers, which starts tomorrow and ends on Friday.
On the sidelines of the Council of Ministers of the African Union, Minister Nkoana-Mashabane will chair the Committees on Post-Conflict Development in Africa and the nomination of the Chairship of the African Union. She will also have bilateral meetings with several of her counterparts, including Foreign Affairs Minister of Ethiopia.
The Minister will then receive President Jacob G Zuma on Friday when he arrives for the 14th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of States and Governments which ends 2 February 2010.
