Minister Madikizela to hand over houses for Women’s Day

The Western Cape Minister of Human Settlements, Bonginkosi Madikizela, will hand over two sponsored houses to needy beneficiaries as part of Women’s Day Celebrations, on 9 August 2012.

The first house, in Illitha Park, Khayelitha, will be handed over to Mrs Busiswa Mbuqwa, who has a 11 month old baby, Thina. Thina is in need of a liver transplant, and must be housed in a warm, hygienic and secure house before the doctors will perform a transplant. Currently Thina’s mother lives in an informal settlement with the mother, grandparents and eight other family members. The story of Thina was highlighted by SABC Touching Lives.

The house has been sponsored by ASLA and the land provided by the Department. Other partners include ESKOM, the Department of Correctional Services and the National Home Builders Registration Council.
