The Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Ms Buyelwa Sonjica will be hosting a provincial Water Indaba in Mpumalanga on Tuesday, 6 October 2009.
The Mpumalanga province is faced with many water related challenges, among these is the illegal abstraction or the theft of water, pollution and issues of a lack of access by certain communities. It is expected that the Minister will announce a set of interventions to address the immediate to long term water problems in the province.
The Water Indaba will also culminate in a detailed action plan that will go someway toward speeding up the process of service delivery in the province. The provincial Premier, politicians, representatives from Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), water authorities and officials from government departments are to participate in the Indaba.
