Minister Gugile Nkwinti to visit indingent households and to inspect walk way progress in Ceres

Members of the media are cordially invited to join Rural Development and Land Reform Minister Gugile Nkwinti to households visit and Walkway construction site on Thursday, 2 December 2010, at 10h00 at P.A. Hamlet Community Hall, Ceres. 

The Walkway progress monitoring visit follows a commitment by the Minister to the community on 20 August 2010, when he visited the municipalities to assess the progress in the National War on Poverty Programme. Whilst doing households visits, Minister Nkwinti had identified an open space in the Kliprug area. The walkway which is a ministerial project is also joint effort by the department, Cape Winelands District and Witzenberg Local Municipalities to build a, walkway, a community park and an institutional garden for the community. 

Minister Nkwintis’ second visit will therefore be to inspect the progress made at the walkway site which is underway and has created more than twenty-six employment opportunities for the youth in the Witzenberg. As such, this event will start with a briefing session attended by the Executive Mayors of Cape Winelands and Witzenberg Municipalities and will feature the following key activities for the day:

  • A Briefing Session
  • Household visits
  • Community Meeting
