This afternoon, the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) will be hosting its first ever Further Education and Training (FET) College student awards ceremony at the False Bay College Central Office.
The awards recognise the highest achievements in the 2011 national NC(V) and National Association for Tertiary Education for Deaf people (NATED) examinations. (The FET equivalent to the NSC awards at Leeuwenhof). Individual learners will receive a cash prize, as well as a lap top.
This year’s awards are also special for the Western Cape as we have outperformed all other provinces in these examinations, as well as, exceeded our very own targets. For example, in 2011 we saw significant increases in all the three levels of the NC(V) examination results compared to previous years.
We also performed consistently above the national certification rate across all three N levels in the NATED examinations and is the top performer in the NATED 4 and NATED 5 examinations. Minister Grant will be the key note speaker at the event.
If you wish to have an embargoed copy of his speech, as well as the list of the award winners, before time for deadline purposes, please contact me and I will provide you with those details.
