The Minister of Energy Ms Dipuo Peters will be attending the International Energy Agency Bi-Annual meeting on the governing Board at Ministerial level in Paris, France from the 18 to 19 October 2011.
This interactive meeting of Energy Ministers is an important platform with an energy agenda aimed at dealing a blow to energy poverty in South Africa and the entire African continent. The minister will then proceed to Copenhagen to join the Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe within the framework of the declaration of intent that was signed in 2008 between South Africa and the Governments of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden concerning partnership of Africa.
Minister of Rural Development and Land Affairs Mr Gugile Nkwinti will be the Acting Minister of Energy during Minister Peters’s absence. The Minister is available for media telephonic interviews.
