Minister of Energy, Ms Dipuo Peters to attend the 15th Asia Oil and Gas Conference (AOGC) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The conference will provide a platform for participants to engage in intellectual discourse and strategic dialogue on a broad range of industry issues, particularly those related to oil and gas industry.

The Asia Oil and Gas Conference was first held in 1996 and has become an annual event for the oil and gas industry. Petronas in collaboration with the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research and PFC Energy organised and managed this event over the past years. The theme of the conference this year is “Beyond the New Reality”. Inherently it reflects future dynamics and changing paradigms in the global oil and gas industry.

Key topics to be discussed amongst other are:

* The sustainability and pace of the global economic recovery, which is expected to be below potential, and its influence on future energy demand.
* The elevated price trend and continuous upward pressure on prices of key commodities, particularly crude oil, and their impact on growth and margins.
* The responses of the oil and gas industry to the growing interest in green energy and the low carbon economy.

The Acting Minister during Ms Peters’ absence is Mr Trevor Manuel.
