Minister of Energy, Dipuo Peters to launch the Ikhwezi Solar at East London

The Minister of Energy, Ms Dipuo Peters, will officiate at the launch at East London in the Eastern Cape. The Ikhwezi Solar is a newly established manufacturing facility, which manufactures flat plate solar thermal collectors necessary for environmentally friendly energy sources.

The R10 million facility which was imported from Germany will create jobs and train installers in the Solar technology locally through this local manufacturing plant.

Solar Thermal absorbers are necessary for the conversion of solar radiation into energy welding process is the most advanced and commercially viable technology for their industrial mass production. Practical alternatives to reducing the carbon footprint of the facility were adopted in the design and construction of the factory.

The Minister of energy will officially launch this facility which she believes will assist government to meet its target of providing one million solar water heaters by 2014. The media is invited to cover the event.
