Minister Dlamini Zuma to launch joint Home Affairs-Community Forum in Lusikisiki to monitor service delivery

Lusikisiki: Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, will on Monday, 2 November 2009, lead a senior Home Affairs delegation to the launch of a joint Home Affairs-Lusikisiki Community Forum to monitor quality service delivery to the community during her visit to Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape.

The launch of the forum in Lusikisiki will be the second launch by Minister Dlamini Zuma after a similar forum was launched early this year in UMzimkhulu in KwaZulu-Natal which consist of several governments and members of the community including local chiefs, religious leaders and councillors.

Minister Dlamini Zuma's launch of the joint Home Affairs-Lusikisiki Community Forum takes place within the context of the overall government effort to involve communities in the process of governance under the theme "together we can do more".

Accordingly, the joint Home Affairs-Lusikisiki Consultative Forums will deal with service delivery complaints from the community, monitor and ensure implementation of quality service delivery to the Lusikisiki community.

Minister Dlamini Zuma is steadfast in her conviction that only through the involvement of local stakeholders in the process of governance can we improve upon service delivery levels within the Department of Home Affairs.

During her visit to Lusikisiki, Minister Dlamini Zuma will also have an opportunity to inspect facilities in the Lusikisiki Home Affairs offices, visit the local Palmerton High School to interact with victims of forced marriages as well as host an overall government Imbizo with members of the general public.
