Home Affairs Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will on Wednesday, 4 May 2011 and Thursday, 5 May 2011, hand out IDs and birth certificates to members of the members of the Khayelitsha and Atlantis communities in the Western Cape. This comes ahead of the opening of the Hartebeeskraal Thusong Centre in Atlantis on Thursday 5 May 2011.
Minister Dlamini Zuma’s visit to Khayelitsha and Atlantis comes within the context of the department’s commitment to rendering quality services to all the country’s citizens in pursuance of its constitutional mandate. With a view to achieving this, the department is committed to participatory governance through regular interactions with members of the citizenry as well as the mobilisation of stakeholder forums who assist with service delivery while exercising an oversight role over the Department.
In this regard, on Wednesday, 4 May 2011 Minister Dlamini Zuma, supported by senior members of the department, will conduct house visits to hand out IDs to members of the community. Minister Dlamini Zuma will also hold discussions with officials at the Khayelitsha office as well as ward councilors in the area.
On Thursday, 5 May 2011 Minister Dlamini Zuma will again hand over IDs and birth certificates to members of the community in Witsand, following which she will interact with members of the Atlantis community before officially opening the Hartebeeskraal Thusong Centre, Atlantis.
