Durban: Minister of Home Affairs Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will on Saturday, 29 August 2009, lead a senior Home Affairs delegation to Umzimkhulu, in the province of KwaZulu-Natal where she will hold extensive discussions with community stakeholders on service delivery.
The visit to Umzimkhulu comes within the context of calls by Minister Dlamini Zuma that strategic alliances with stakeholders in the communities as well as the people themselves are essential in addressing the challenges faced by the Department of Home Affairs.
Minister Dlamini Zuma is of the view that only through sustainable partnerships with communities can government successfully implement durable programme of action to improve the lives of all South Africans.
The meeting with community stakeholders in Umzimkhulu will therefore identity challenges in term of service delivery by the Department of Home Affairs to the community and well as opportunities that will enable it to deliver on its mandate to the people. In this regard, a programme of action is expected to be developed for the upgrading of service delivery to the community.
The visit to Umzimkhulu follows Minister Dlamini Zuma's recent engagement with officials of the Department of Home Affairs, other government departments as well as members of the public including traditional leaders, local councillors and religious leaders.
