Minister of Home Affairs Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will on Tuesday, 18 May 2010 brief Parliament’s Joint Public Hearing on 2010 preparations on the department’s readiness to support South Africa’s efforts to host the historic and first-ever Fifa World Cup on African soil.
Recently as part of these efforts Minister Dlamini Zuma unveiled the Movement Control System at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg which is currently being rolled out to 32 other ports of entry.
The Movement Control System will assist the country in regulating the movement of people in and beyond the country’s borders, whilst monitoring those who overstay their welcome and simultaneously assist the law enforcement agencies in combating crime and corruption.
The Movement Control System is a collaborative project between South Africa Revenue Service (SARS), the Reserve Bank, Home Affairs and other law enforcement agencies.
