Minister of Social Development Bathabile Dlamini will tomorrow launch the MenCare campaign in collaboration with the Sonke Gender Justice Network and Instituto Promundo.
This is a global campaign that aims to engage men as active and equal partners to promote better HIV and AIDS outcomes, improve maternal health as well as sexual and reproductive health. It also seeks, through men, to reduce gender-based violence and promote child development and economic empowerment for women.
Research shows that positive father involvement is good for children, women and men themselves.
The campaign seeks to highlight the role of men as caregivers while providing a concrete programme and policy examples of how to increase such positive involvement.
