Minister Dlamini to host the National Non-Profit Organisations (NPO) Summit

Minister of Social Development, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, will host a National NPO Summit which will focus on the need to strengthen relationships between government and the NPO sector. His Excellency, President Jacob Zuma is expected to grace the event and deliver a keynote address.

The summit will be held under theme "Working Together to Fight Poverty, Unemployment and Inequality". The Department of Social Development is working with Non-profit organisations to develop and improve the quality of service delivery throughout the country. This summit is the culmination of Provincial dialogues that were conducted in all nine provinces.

The purpose of the summit is to provide a platform for effective partnership between  government and Non-profit sector as mandated by the Non-profit Organisations Act 1997. The summit will also assist in ensuring coordination and integration among all the stakeholders.

During the summit, the following key issues will be discussed:

  • Funding and resource mobilisation
  • Ten point plan and other priorities for partnership, and
  • Capacity building for NPOs.

Minister Dlamini will be accompanied by the Deputy Minister, Ms Maria Ntuli, the Premier of Gauteng, Ms Nomvula Mokonyane and MECs for Social Development.
