Minister Dipuo Peters to deliver a keynote address at the launch of the World Development Report 2012: Gender Equality and Development

Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the Launch of the World Development Report 2012: Gender Equality and Development held at the Sunnyside Park Hotel, Johannesburg today (10 October 2011).

The event which is organised by the World Bank will be graced with the presence of Ms Graca Machel, Shanta Devarajan the Chief Economist at the World Bank, representatives from other organisations such as the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), PostBank and the Department of Women, Children and People living with Disabilities.

Ms Peters will use the platform to highlight the country’s commitment to the attainment of gender equality and women’s empowerment as a core development objective. The World Bank report focuses on the economics of gender equality and development and calls for action in areas where gender gaps are most significant.
