Minister Davies to recognise outstanding entrepreneurs at the 2011 quality awards

The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies will honour entrepreneurs who have proven themselves exceptional in striving towards quality assurance and management in conducting their business activities at the 2011 South African Quality Awards, which will be held at Velmore Hotel, Pretoria on Friday, 3 June 2011. 

The awards aim to recognise and appreciate enterprises and individuals who contribute to quality advancement in all sectors and serve as motivation to small, medium and large sized enterprises to improve on the quality of goods and services they provide.

Minister Davies says the awards encapsulates the national benchmark for excellence and aims to motivate enterprises to improve their business practices, industrial competitiveness and promote economic growth, by offering products and services of the highest quality.

The Quality Awards concept came into being as a result of an agreement approved by Southern African Development Community (SADC) ministers in 2009, with the aim of recognising and appreciating enterprises and individuals who are contributing to quality advancement in all of SADC countries to support national and regional economic development and growth. 

“Five categories comprising of nine awards in total will be up for contention at this year’s awards. Winners will automatically qualify for the SADC Quality Awards,” concluded Davies.
