Minister of Correctional Services, Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula to launch public hearings for the renaming of Correctional Centres

The Department of Correctional Services is scheduled to hold public hearings as part of a broad consultative process to invite stakeholders and members of the public to make oral submissions which will ensure that as many people as possible are afforded an opportunity to influence the renaming of Correctional Centres process. 

Identified Correctional Centres are:
Gauteng: Johannesburg, Leeuwkop and Pretoria Central,
Eastern Cape: St Albans and East London,
Western Cape: Pollsmoor,
KwaZulu–Natal: Durban Westville and Pietermaritzburg,
Free State/Northern Cape: Kroonstad; and 
Limpopo/Mpumalanga/North West: Barberton and Modimolle

For the launch the Minister will be joined by her Executive Management Team namely the Deputy Minister of Correctional Services, Dr Ngoako Ramatlhodi, National Commissioner Tom Moyane and Chief Deputy Commissioners.

Date: 7 March 2011
Time: 13h00 for 13h30
Venue: Grace Bible Church, 1748 Dlebelendlovu Street, Zone 1, Pimville, Soweto
Dress Code: Semi-formal/presentable 

The public hearings will then move to Pretoria and the details are as following:
Date: 9 March 2011
Time: 13h00 for 13h30
Venue: Vista University, Mamelodi Campus
Dress Code: Semi-formal/presentable

The project is a great step towards promoting corrections as a societal responsibility and contribution to social cohesion through the renaming of identified Correctional Centres.
