The Minister of Correctional Services, Honourable Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, MP, will address a gala dinner of parole board chairpersons at the Sheraton Hotel in Pretoria this evening at 19h00.
The address by Minister Mapisa-Nqakula follows on the recent appointment of new Correctional Supervision and Parole Boards including Correctional Supervision and Parole Board (CSPB) Chairpersons on a five year term of office.
Minister Mapisa-Nqakula will address the CSPB Chairpersons on many issues that confront Correctional Supervision and Parole Boards including:
- The mandate of Parole Boards in as far as the administration of parole processes and uniformity in criterion used to weigh parole applications
- Increasing victim participation in parole processes
- Decreasing the number of parolees violating their parole conditions.
The Minister has also included these specific milestones as part of a series of deliverables in her performance agreement with the President of the Republic by the end of her current term of office in 2014.

The gala dinner will be followed by a two-day orientation summit of all correctional Supervision and Parole Board Chairpersons on 28 and 29 June 2011 in Pretoria.
