The Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mr Buti Manamela, will on Thursday, 11 June 2026, brief the media on developments relating to the implementation of transitional arrangements for the introduction of occupational qualifications.
The briefing, which was postponed last week, is aimed at providing clarity on the phasing out of certain pre-2009 qualifications, the implications for learners, training providers and employers, as well as the timelines and support measures associated with the transition.
The transition forms part of government’s broader skills revolution agenda to modernise the post-school education and training system and strengthen alignment between education, skills development and labour market needs.
