Minister Blade Nzimande presides over the official opening of the Dambuza Community Skills Centre

The Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Blade Nzimande, will tomorrow, Saturday, 8 October 2011, preside over the official opening of the Dambuza Community Skills Centre, which will offer training to young people in the field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), as well as e-learning in selected schools in the area.

Dambuza, Minister Nzimandes’ place of birth, is an economically depressed area in the township of Edendale, Pietermaritzburg. This initiative, which is a partnership between the Dambuza Community Trust, and Dimension Data (Pty) Ltd., seeks to provide access for young people to the skills they desperately need to extricate themselves and their families from a life of poverty and indignity.

Dr Nzimande has always had a passion for programmes aimed at alleviating the economic plight of young people, especially in rural areas across the country. This initiative will go a long way towards achieving the goal of skills development and poverty alleviation.
