Members of the media are invited to a public participation forum which will provide an interface between government, civil society and beneficiary communities in the province of Limpopo.
This interface as provided for in our Constitution is the cornerstone for building a culture of human rights through civil society participation in both the national and provincial legislatures.
The forum will provide a platform for government to give feedback to the community within the Aganang municipality in Moletjie on work done by government to better the lives of the people since the general elections of 2009.
As provided for in the Municipal Systems Act, the forum will provide for community participation in the conceptualisation, design and implementation and monitoring of government processes and projects which impact on local development and will be a mechanism for accountability by public servants and elected officials.
The forum attracting 150 delegates will be attended by partners in the alliance, unions, religious groups, members of school governing bodies, community policing forums, traditional and healers and other interested civil society organisations.
The forum will enhance participatory democracy through public policy dialogue and civil society networking.
