Minister and Deputy Minister of Social Development take anti-substance abuse campaign to Free State province

As part of the anti-substance abuse national campaign, the Minister of Social Development Mrs Edna Molewa and the Deputy Minister, Ms Bathabile Dlamini, accompanied by the MEC for Social Development, Ms Sisi Ntombela and members of the Central Drug Authority will visit the community of Jacobsdaal Free State. The aim of the campaign is to inform the public about the harmful effects of substance abuse and to mobilise for collective community action against the substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking. The political principals will interact with communities through the public participation programme.

The visit will commence with a women’s conference on substance abuse and a youth dialogue, which will culminate in a provincial substance abuse summit. The provincial summit is a precursor to the second Biennial Substance Abuse Summit that will be held from 8 to 10 December 2010 in Durban KwaZulu-Natal province.
