The Portfolio Committee on Mineral Resources will embark on an oversight visit from 5 to 9 September 2011 in the Limpopo province. The committee will visit mining companies and will also be engaging miners and the mining communities.
The purpose of this oversight is to assess the impact of mining laws to mining companies, workers and the mining communities. It also plans to verify the existence of social labour plans.
The committee will visit the following mines:
- Modikwa Platinum Mine in Driekop
- Smokey Hills Platinum Mine in Brayston
- Bokoni Platinum Mine in Atok
