Mineral Resources Minister, Susan Shabangu hosts public participation event at Motlhotlo, Limpopo

Mineral Resources Minister Susan Shabangu, Limpopo Premier Cassel Mathale and Mogalakwena municipality Mayor Bob Mmola will attend a Public Participation event at Motlhotlo, near Mokopane in Limpopo province on Tuesday, 10 November 2009.

The event will focus on issues relating to the impact of mining on surrounding communities, specifically the relocation of communities in the Motlhotlo area to make way for the expansion of mining activities.

President Jacob Zuma visited Motlhotlo earlier this year and promised the community that he would ask the Minister of Mineral Resources to visit them in an effort to resolve their issues related to mining activities.

The event will take place during public participation week (9 to 15 November 2009). It reflects government’s commitment to build partnerships with communities, business, labour and other partners, thereby supporting the President’s commitment that government must serve the public.

The details are as follows:

Venue: Cornelius Masebe Primary School, Motlhotlo (old village)
Date: 10 November 2009
Time: 10h00
