Memorial Service for the late Special Mr David Dlali

The memorial service of Mr David Dlali, Special Advisor of Minister Lulu Xingwana, will be held on Friday, 15 June 2012 at the Methodist Church in Pretoria.

Speakers at the memorial service include Mr Mathole Motshega, the Chief Whip of the Majority Party in Parliament and Mr Tony Yengeni of the ANC NEC and Mr Mbuyiselo Botha of Sonke Justice. Minister Lulu Xingwana will deliver the keynote address.

Mr Dlali was a Member of Parliament from 2001 until 2009, representing his constituency of Gugulethu Township. As an ANC MP in the National Assembly, he participated in various portfolio committees such as provincial & local government, minerals & energy and defence. He also served as ANC leader in the Western Cape and was an Umkhonto We Sizwe underground operative.

He occupied various leadership positions in the Western Cape ANC structures, including as a member of the Provincial Executive Committee and Chairman of the Dullar Omar region.

Early in the week, Minister Xingwana said that Mr Dlali “leaves a large void which will not be easy to fill. Our nation and the entire democratic movement have lost a selfless and loyal servant”.

The memorial service shall be held as follows:
