The Gauteng MEC for Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation (SACR), Ms Nelisiwe Mbatha-Mthimkhulu will deliver her first budget vote speech at the Gauteng Legislature on 6 August, at 10h00.
Following the fourth democratic election earlier this year the MEC will have a chance to table her departmental budget for the 2009/10 financial year.
The MEC will outline the budget which talks to the new departmental mandate to ensure access, increased participation and transformation of the sports, arts, culture and recreation sectors in a manner that yields optimum social and economic benefits for all in the province and promotes nation building and social cohesion.
