The Adult Learners’ Week and International Literacy Day are events celebrated internationally to give recognition to adults engaged in lifelong learning. A theme is chosen every year. The theme for 2009 is “learning to live–living to learn for a valuable future: The power of youth in adult learning.”
The Free State Department of Education will on Saturday, 29 August 2009 celebrate Adult Learners’ Week and International Literacy Day arranged as follows:

Time: 10h30 for 11h00
Venue: EE Monese Secondary School, Senekal
The proceedings will start at 10h30 with the formal programme starting at 11h00 and scheduled to last up to 13h00. The Honourable MEC for Education, Mr Tate Makgoe will deliver a keynote address at the event.
