Media launch to mark the opening of traffic officers’ upliftment course

In an effort to improve traffic law enforcement capacity for 2010 and beyond, the Eastern Cape Department of Roads and Transport will open a traffic officers’ upliftment course at Culturama, Rocklands in Uitenhage on Monday, 6 July 2009.

This “first of its kind course in the province” will officially be opened with a media launch at 14h00, which will signify the opening of a four year training period to ensure that traffic officers are given a refreshment course and upliftment in their important tasks.

It was announced two weeks ago by Transport and Safety MEC Ghishma Barry during the presentation of her Policy Speech in the Eastern Cape Legislature.

“The idea is to ensure that our traffic officers are ready to face the challenges that might be there in 2010 and beyond,” said MEC Barry.
