The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries invites members of the media to the 2010 Forestry Indaba to be held in White river, Mpumalanga.
The theme for the forestry Indaba 2010 will be “Sustainable forest management for people, livelihoods and economic development”. The aim is to promote sustainable forest management based on the principles of sustainable development and therefore ensures the integration of ecological, social and economic values, in consultation with local communities and other stakeholders.
Some of the sub-themes to be addressed include, forest policy, governance and institutional arrangement in the changing environment, sustainable forest use and conservation for rural livelihoods, enabling framework for forestry development opportunities, protecting our forest, reaching beyond the forest sector and forest at the service of the people.
Members of the media will be afforded the opportunity to interview the Minister
