The MEC of Local Government and Housing, Mr Soviet Lekganyane cordially invites all media houses to attend the emerging contractors' workshop.
This is a platform to share ideas in order to establish and reinforce an enabling environment for emerging contractors. The workshop aims to reaffirm and clarify the roles of emerging contractors, establish shared understanding, job creation imperatives and address some of the concerns in the sector such as quality failure or malpractices, delays in payment or procurement and cost of bridging finance.
As said by the MEC budget speech 2010/11 that: "local government is where most of our people have direct and frequently contact with government. We are determined to ensure that this is an effective, efficient, caring and responsive sphere of government".
