Members of the news media are cordially invited to the Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO) meeting under the chairmanship of South African Police Services (SAPS) National Commissioner Bheki Cele.
SARPCCO is made up of 14 regional police chiefs who from time to time meet to enhance cooperation in respect of policing matters. The principal function of this togetherness is to prevent and fight crime in Southern Africa under a mutual focus that is shared by all the chiefs, which is cross border crimes.
The sitting of SARPCCO on this occasion will hold deliberations through established sub-committees on the issues mentioned hereunder:
- Legal
- Training
- Vehicle liaison
- Women’s network
- Forensic
- Police medical doctors and
- Information technology
The media will be afforded the opportunity to attend the presentation of a welcoming address by the National Commissioner Bheki Cele on Wednesday, 2 December 2009, between 08h00 and 10h00 at Elangeni Hotel in Durban.
A group photo of dignitaries in attendance will be afforded after a press conference.
