The Minister of Public Works, Hon Thulas Nxesi MP, cordially invites you to the second Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) Summit to be held with all (278) municipalities at Gallagher Estate in Midrand from the 2 to 4 November 2011.
The Summit is intended to engage key stakeholders in municipalities on the implementation of the programme, with an emphasis on working together to achieve the EPWP targets for Phase two as per sphere of Government.
The key stakeholders who will be attending the Summit are: the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) and all Municipalities from across the country.
The EPWP Phase 2, which covers the period 2009/10 to 2014/15, was approved by Cabinet and aims to create 4.5 million work opportunities for poor and unemployed people in South Africa, thereby contributing to halving unemployment by 2014.
