The Honourable Minister for the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform, Mr Gugile Nkwinti cordially invites you to the official launch of the Red Meat Pilot Project taking place at Cecilia Farm in Bloemfontein on 20 November 2010. The event is in line with the pronouncement of the minister during his budget vote speech earlier this year in parliament. This launch also forms part of the recapitalisation programme of the department. Among other objectives, the recapitalisation initiative seeks to increase agricultural production, guarantee food security, job creation and graduate small scale farmers to commercial farmers in the agricultural sector.
This event comes as a result of eleven partnership agreements that have been formalised by the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform and 11 emerging farmers in the Free State and the Bloemfontein Abattoir. The agreement was signed on the 7th of September 2010. The recapitalisation programme also endeavours to revive collapsed farms and help emerging farmers with the necessary resources in order to be able to sustain their farms.
The Free State Premier Ace Magashule will grace the occasion and various stakeholders, including the farming community in the province, will be in attendance.
