Media invitation: handover of new built South African Police Station in Tsakane, Brakpan

The event has been postponed for a later date.

The Minister of Public Works, Honourable Gwen Mahlangu-Nkabinde, MP, cordially invites you to the official hand-over of the newly built South African Police Service Station at Tsakane in Brakpan on Friday, 13 May 2011.

The day will start with a technical briefing at 10.00 in the morning, followed by a walk-about around the precinct before the start of the official Programme at 11 am, scheduled to end at 12 noon.

This R55 million project was constructed by the Department of Public Works between 2008 and 2010 and at its peak, created more than 170 job opportunities for the locals, including 47 women and 40 youth. In line with the government’s resolution to lessen the burden of lease contracts (and their associated costs), the SAPS took occupation of the new buildings in 2010, moving from the formerly leased building.

Infrastructure development is central to the New Growth Path and historically Public Works has been instrumental in delivering essential public infrastructure in fulfillment of government’s socio-economic objectives of poverty alleviation, job creation, service delivery improvement and local community empowerment, among others. The Tsakane Police Station is no exception.
