Minister of Energy, Ms Dipuo Peters (MP), will distribute solar water heating systems to the community of Noupoort in the Northern Cape on 14 May 2010.
This project is part of the departmental roll-out programme of the National Solar Water Heating programme which was launched by President Jacob Zuma in Winterveldt, outside Pretoria on 28 April 2010.
Cabinet has recently pronounced that ministers are mandated to hold at least 10 Public Participation programmes where they interact with communities and get first hand information on issues of service delivery.
Members of the media are therefore invited to attend and cover the Service Delivery Outreach programme which will be held in Noupoort on 14 May 2010. The programme starts at 09h00 to end at 12h00.
Ms Peters will visit two houses of the first beneficiaries of the solar geysers as well as two local clinics who will get solar panels before addressing the public at the Kwazamuxolo sport field.
This propitious occasion will also be used to celebrate the elderly and honour their contribution not only as home builders and custodians of knowledge and skills, but also as community developers and volunteers in various capacities and capabilities.
